Long time between posts

well, this blog thing is not going as well as i thought! given that i haven't posted since august.
here is something that Millie made. She made it to match the heart she has aldready finished. she did all the embroidery herself and then used the sewing machine to make the cushion. She entered it in the Cobram Show and one first prize and best exhibit and won a $10 pizza voucher which she is using tonight ....

i have also started something. i bought this wool at an op shop a little while ago for $10 which included the wool, the bag and some crochet hooks.

i am making a http://dottieangel.blogspot.com ordinarily extraordinary blanket.

The Vegetable Patch

Ned and I didn't make the trip to Moama to football because we had soccer, or so we thought. We arrived at the soccer ground to find no-one was there!! Instead, we planted some beetroot ...

and some lettuce....

Ned then started a worm farm to get ready for his next trip to Eildon!!!

Millie's Heart

Today, Millie spent the whole day embroidery her heart. The pattern was from one of her favorite books by Tilda "Sew Pretty Homestyle". She did a beautiful job and finished it in one day (unlike her mother who never finishes anything!!). It is now proudly hanging on her door.

A View from the Hill

In the school holidays, I took the kids to Wangaratta to the movies. Jack, Millie, Ned and I went and saw Eclipse while Hugh hung out at the skate park. Millie and I managed to get to the Woollen Mills while Jack and Ned were in the fishing shop. I bought all of this for $80. I have started a cardigan with the beige wool. The red and pink bag is untreated wool which I will be knitting and then felting. The green wool I am going to crochet a wrap/vest thing! Millie liked the multi coloured wool so when her broken arm is no more, we plan to do some knitting with it. They were only $1 a ball.
We have had a very quiet day today - it is quite cold and our heater is not working. We spent all day yesterday at the football in Echuca so it's nice to be at home today. Millie made pancakes for breakfast which were yummy!
This is where I am up to with Millie's granny blanket. It seems to be taken a long time as my tension is quite firm so it is taking lots of rows.

I have added a photo to the heading which shows how good the farm is looking at the moment! We had about 16 mms of rain this week so it is looking like we will have some feed for the first time in many years! I need to go and take Ruby for a walk before it gets much colder but first Millie and I are making a fabric box!

I'm not really posting at 12.00AM - not sure how to change that time!!

Genevieve's Birthday Present

After being quite ambitious last Friday and starting my blog, it seems to have taken me nearly a whole week to get back to it!! We are all back at school and work this week. Jack was home yesterday with a sore throat and Ned was home today with one too!

It was Genevieve's birthday this week so as is standard procedure for me, I started to make the present on Sunday night to be ready to post on Monday. I had been reading this blog http://www.theroyalsisters.blogspot.com/ and found this cute tutorial for crocheted hearts. They are actually red and not pink as in the picture. I managed to get them finished Sunday night (I did miss the Doctor and it was the final in the series) but I needed to stay by the computer and finish. I am just hoping Gen has been home to get her mail and they haven't been left in the rain by the mailman!

After thinking about starting a blog for quite some time, I have finally done it. We have just spent the last 5 days camping at Ned's Corner so I have huge amounts of washing to do, but no! I am "blogging". We had a lovely time with lots of bush walking, not much fishing for the boys, and some knitting and crocheting! Miss M managed to cope well even with her broken arm.
